Mills rains threes again as Giddey follows LeBron, Ball into history books: NBA Wrap

Patty Mills starred again for the Nets as he hit seven from 10 three-pointers as Brooklyn beat the Boston Celtic 123-104.

Mills put up 23 points, two assists and one rebound with Kevin Durant adding 21 points and eight assists and James Harden contributing 20 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds in the win.

Mills’ seven three pointers means he is second for three-pointers made in the league behind only Golden State’s Steph Curry.

He is also fourth in three pointers off the bench in NBA history.

“We just came in and brought the juice and the enthusiasm on both ends of the floor, particularly on the defensive end, we got rebounds, we got steals,” he said.

“We were just playing with that enthusiasm and it’s great when you play like that in that group.

“You gain a lot of confidence from your teammates and you’re able to feed off each other – you make teammates better. It’s a fun group to be a part of and it’s a fun group to learn from on the floor and we’re definitely getting there with another step in the right direction.

“It starts in the locker room and the trust in each other’s games so when you come out on the court you know you’ve got each other’s back and how to play with each other.”

With their seventh win in their last eight, the Nets improved to 14-5 for the season.

Mills’ countryman Josh Giddey put up impressive numbers again during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s narrow 104-110 defeat to the Utah Jazz.

Giddey scored 19 points to add to his eight assists and six rebounds in another encouraging all-round performance for the Australian.

In doing so, Giddey became only the third teenager in NBA history to get 100 assists and 100 rebounds in their first 20 games, behind LeBron James and LaMelo Ball.

Incidentally, James posted his highest points return of the season so far with 39 points in the Lakers’ 124-116 OT win over the Indiana Pacers.

James returned to the team after missing the Lakers’ defeat to the New York Knicks last time out following his one-game suspension for his part in the all-in bloody brawl against the Detroit Pistons earlier this week.

And he made up for his absence with a huge three in overtime as he posted six assists and five rebounds to add to his 39 points.

Russell Westbrook made 20 as the duo played more than 40 minutes each during the much-needed win to bring the Lakers’ season record level at 10-10.

Reigning finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 33 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to their 11th win of the season against the Detroit Pistons.

Giannis hit 33-5-7 while Bobby Portis scored 28 and Jrue Holiday added 22 in a dominant win for last season’s NBA champion.

The Houston Rockets stunned the high-flying Chicago Bulls with a 118-113 win.

Eight Rockets players got into double figures for scoring during the game as a commanding third quarter where they outscored the Bulls by 17 points proved too much to overcome.
