Chelsea are said to be ‘relaxed’ about the future of Mason Mount, after the midfield prodigy was linked with moves to Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old has only started two of the last five Premier League matches he has been available for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Having progressed into the first team under Frank Lampard, Mount has been one of the shining lights of this Chelsea side over the last three seasons.

Alongside Reece James, he is one of the poster boys of the Blues’ academy, with his development and experience being a beacon of light for the many youngsters in their youth teams.

However, numerous reports claimed the former Derby County loanee had grown frustrated at the inconsistent number of starts he was receiving.

Mason Mount was recently linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge

But despite the recent speculation, ESPN claims the reigning Champions League holders are ‘relaxed’ about Mount’s future.

It is understood the Chelsea midfielder enjoys a very strong relationship with Tuchel, despite the fact he may have been rotated more than he would have liked.

The Blues currently have a lot of housekeeping on their hands, as they are set to lose Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, and Cesar Azpilicueta on a free contract.

All four defenders’ contracts expire next season, meaning they would be able to depart the club for nothing.

Mount currently earns £75,000 per week, which is significantly less than many of the counterparts he is competing with for a place in the starting eleven.

However, the midfielder still has two and a half years left on his current deal, and it is believed the Blues are simply prioritising the defenders’ contracts who will expire very soon.

Conversations about a new deal for the England international are expected to begin later on in the season.

Chelsea fans will likely be breathing a huge sigh of relief after coming across this news.

It is a complete contrast to a recent report from the Daily Star , who claimed he had felt ‘unappreciated’ by the club, in comparison with some of the major signings who have arrived.

“He’s been at Chelsea since he was a tiny lad, but despite coming up through the Academy, he doesn’t feel like he gets the same treatment or recognition as players bought in for big money,” a source reportedly close to the player said.

Mount’s relationship with Tuchel is believed to be very healthy

Further reports also claimed Liverpool were courting the versatile midfielder, amid the possibility of launching a bid for the Chelsea product.

Mount scored a wonderful goal against the Reds’ in last season’s 1-0 away victory at Anfield, and had reportedly impressed Jurgen Klopp.

And the source also said a move to Anfield would also be good a good move for the player.

“He is torn because he loves the club and the fans, but thinks it’s time for him to leave to step up his career. And where better to do that than Liverpool?”

Mount has contributed three goals and two assists in nine Premier League appearances this season.

He also provided the eye of the needle assist for Kai Havertz, which saw Chelsea overcome Manchester City to win their second Champions League title.
