Nutritionist warns that lemonade causes cancer and age-related diseases

Date: August 13, 2022 3:13 pm

Sweet lemonade can provoke the development of oncology and age-related diseases. This was announced by the nutritionist, doctor of medical sciences, director of the Samara Research Institute of Dietology and Diet Therapy, Mikhail Ginzburg.

He said that the sugar in drinks is more harmful than in solid foods.

— Lemonade has flavorings, colorings and a lot of sugar. This is an absolutely harmful product. Liquid sugar is even more harmful than chewed sugar. The body absorbs liquid sugar too quickly, and at some point its concentration in the blood and tissues can rise sharply, the doctor explained.

According to Ginzburg, this is fraught with undesirable consequences for the body. Therefore, intoxication, inflammation, binding of sugar molecules to protein molecules, that is, glycation, can occur, she explained.

Frequent consumption of lemonade can lead to obesity, diabetes, hypertension and even cancer, the doctor said.

“People who abuse this drink are more likely to develop diseases such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, hypertension and some types of tumors,” said the nutritionist in an interview with Sputnik radio.

It’s much better to quench your thirst with drinks that don’t contain sugar, Ginzburg concluded.

Dietician Elena Solomatina talked about how to get rid of bad eating habits and how to replace unhealthy foods. She pointed out that a person prone to excessive consumption of junk food, first of all, should be aware of the dependence on fast food. The doctor explained that fast food affects several human senses: sight (shiny packaging), smell and taste.
