Date: August 13, 2022 3:21 pm

About 140 species of perennial flowers can be found in different parts of Moscow. This was said by the deputy mayor of the city for housing and communal services and improvement Peter Biryukov.

According to him, in 2022 more than 1.2 million perennials will be planted in the capital.

According to Yulia Strazhnikova, agronomist at the State Budgetary Institution for Greening, the most popular perennials in Moscow are hosta, astilba, lily, phlox and peony.

This year, Moscow was decorated with more than 167,000 hostas. This plant is characterized by unpretentiousness and undemanding to the place of growth.

Also in Moscow you can find astilbe bushes, which are distinguished by beautiful leaves. This plant does not lose its decorative effect even if it grows in the shade.

Citizens also often find the “flower of joy” in the flower beds of Moscow. This year, Moscow will be decorated with more than 100 thousand bushes of these perennials.

In addition, more than 67,000 paniculate and stinging phloxes and more than 45,000 peonies were grown in Moscow, according to the official website of the capital’s mayor.

More than 35 million flowers were planted annually on the streets, boulevards and squares of Moscow. This was reported by the press service of the mayor and the government of the capital on Saturday, June 9.

According to the chief agronomist of the State Budgetary Institution “Landscaping” Elena Nazarova, most often petunias, begonias, marigolds, cineraria and coleus can be found in the city’s flower beds.
