The popular American broker Interactive Brokers (IB) from the end of July will no longer accept deposits in Russian rubles. On Wednesday, June 22, RBC reports with reference to two clients of the broker.

Information about the termination of work with the Russian currency was confirmed by the broker’s support specialist. He also stated that more information about this would be shared with IB clients.

It is clarified that previously Interactive Brokers accepted transfers in rubles to accounts only of those Russian banks that were not subject to sanctions. The broker is supposed to be able to forcibly convert the remaining rubles in client accounts after July 31, reports RBC.

The European Union (EU) from June 14, as part of the next package of sanctions against Russia, disconnects Sberbank, Rosselkhozbank and Moscow Credit Bank from the SWIFT interbank system. Sberbank said that work now continues as usual and disconnecting from SWIFT will not affect the current situation with international agreements.

Before that, it was reported that the head of the Rostec state corporation, Sergey Chemezov, considers the sanctions imposed on Russia to be unprecedented, but he is sure that “replacing everything is useless, economically untimely and simply impossible.”
